Hi, I’m Rochelle Gilburn and I am the owner of SYHSY. I started the company at the beginning of 2020 and run it from my home in Rotherham.
I was born in Sheffield and lived there for my first 22 years, I lived in Pontefract for around 5 years and have lived in Rotherham for the past 4 years. Yorkshire is my home.
I am a single mum to my two children age 3 and 5. My husband sadly passed away in 2018 and we have since built our lives back up and began to focus on the future.
I started the company as I wanted to help people out of difficult situations. I was aware of how lucky I was that I didn’t need to sell our home and it got me thinking about the people who weren’t so fortunate and had to sell quickly.
I had previously witnessed both my parents go through financial struggles. My dad lost his house to repossession and my mum sold hers to a company much like mine.
The company helped my mum to avoid repossession. She was able to comfortably restart her life and is now a homeowner again.
My dad wasn’t so lucky and will probably never be able to get a mortgage now. He wasn’t aware that there were people out there that would buy his house fast.
I noticed an increase of repossessed housing on the property market and thought, what if I can help people before they get repossessed?
My only problem was, I might have been able to pull the money together to help a few people, but I didn’t have enough to make it into a business, it wasn’t sustainable.
I had to find other people that would be willing to use their cash to purchase the properties. I started to create a database of investors and landlords who have the funds ready to move quickly. Sometimes they will buy the houses, renovate and sell them on, other times they will keep them as rental houses.
